Pimsleur Bookchip for Compact Croatian Bookchips are compact digital memory cards that can hold five, ten, fifteen hours of spoken audio or more. A single Bookchip - not much larger than a postage stamp - can hold entire audiobooks that would traditionally require a half-dozen to a dozen compact discs or cassettes. Bookchips work on many desktop computers, laptops, other handheld PDA devices and mobile Smartphones with SD memory card slots. Bookchips move seamlessly from device to device, remembering your listening position each time. With Bookchips, it's easy to pick up from where you left off the day before, or skip to any chapter you like. Not only do Bookchips hold hours and hours of high-quality digital audio, they are rugged and reliable. Bookchips are completely electronic, and can be played by devices without any spinning or moving parts - which means Bookchips never skip! Bookchips are much easier to travel or exercise with than cassette or compact discs... and lighter, too. The Bookchip contains the Pimsleur Croatian Compact course, with 10 lessons, normally on 5 CDs. $99 More about Pimsleur Bookchips...
iofy Audio Player The iofy Player is back and better than ever. With new enhanced features it delivers the same reliable performance of the original in a sleek new design. Easy to use, the iofy Player is designed specifically for audiobook chips, such as the Pimsleur Bookchip. This intelligent device is the only audiobook chip player on the market today that automatically bookmarks your listening position! Unlike cassettes or CDs, just one audiobook chip can hold 5, 10, 15 hours or more of reading material, and plays without spinning parts that might break or cause skipping when you're on the go. With an iofy player, you can "zip" downloaded audiobooks to chips and listen to them anywhere - while you're driving, exercising, or just relaxing. Alternatively, you can buy premade chips, or you can put your own music or other MP3 content on a chip and listen to that as well. The iofy player comes with Earphones and two AAA batteries. With a 16GB SD Memory Card (not included), it holds up to 2400 hours of spoken audio, or 3840 songs in 128-Kbps MP3 format. Supports Content on SD card, MMC-ROM, MMC Flash, Mini-SD, and Micro-SD (requires adaptor). Skip-free playback; Frequency response: 20Hz to 20,000Hz; MP3 (8 to 192 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Speex; One step MP3-CD to chip conversion; CEA 2003 compliant; MPV compliant. $49 More about the iofy Audio Player...

Tolkien in Foreign Language Editions Note: these books are special orders, so they will take longer to ship than other products. When J.R.R. Tolkien penned The Hobbit, which was published in 1937, he couldn't have known that he was beginning one of the most famous and beloved story cycles the world has ever known. Its initial popularity prompted his publisher to ask for a sequel and Tolkien started writing The Lord of the Rings, which turned out to be a huge opus requiring twelve years for completion - and history was in the making. By the time of Tolkien's death in 1973 The Lord of the Rings had a huge word-of-mouth cult following, with many popular editions, and was part of the cultural background for youth and adults of all ages. Peter Jackson's movie Ring cycle of the Tolkien series has made history again (and is in its own way an achievement in cinema much like Tolkien's in literature, but that is another story) - and has brought Tolkien's writings into a prominence that is perhaps at its peak. Happily, this means that the many foreign editions of Tolkien will probably remain in print for some time, and more may be brought to the fore. The Little Prince in Serbo-Croatian Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Note: these books are special orders, so they will take longer to ship than other products. Equally loved by children and adults alike, The Little Prince is one of the most translated books on the planet - which is fortunate, as we are able to offer here editions in many languages for your (or your child's) enjoyment! With wonderful and whimsical illustrations by the author, this delightful tale straddles a world between adulthood and childhood, philosophy and fantasy, satire and fable, and reminds one not of great children's authors of the past, but of more unclassifiable writers like Carroll, Milne, and Tolkien, who seem to be writing as much for older as younger readers, and whose writings can be enjoyed on many levels. Written in 1943 by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, who disappeared shortly after in WWII during a flying mission for the Allies in Northern Africa, it became an instant cult classic and has remained so ever since. Enjoy The Little Prince in the language of your choice, and check regularly, as we will be adding new versions as they become available. Introduction to the Croatian and Serbian Language (Revised) Thomas F. Magner This introduction to Serbo-Croatian is unique in its equal treatment of the two principal variants, Serbian and Croation, and presents the two alphabets used (Latin and Cyrillic), the representation of lexical items specific to each variant, and pronunciation and syntactic differences. A dictionary is also included. Published by the Pennsylvania State University Press in 1995, 400 pages, 6 X 9, paperback. "Magner's fine work is an exception to existing textbooks. The author accepts the political realities surrounding the question of the Serbian and Croatian variants, and he sets out to provide an opportunity for the instructor to choose and select." --Geolinguistics $29.95
A Bibliography of Serbo-Croatian Dictionaries: Serbian, Croatian, and Bosnian Muslim Danko Sipka This bibliography of Serbo-Croatian dictionaries encompasses over 2,500 dictionaries from the beginning of this lexicographic tradition in the 15th century until the end of the year of 1999. Here is what has been said about the Standard English-SerboCroatian, SerboCroatian-English Dictionary: "Even in the 1990s, when Bosnia, Croatia, and Serbia are forming their own standard languages, Morton Benson's dictionaries still give the best available coverage of the vocabulary and are the most helpful to the foreign learner." --Wayles Browne, Associate Professor of Linguistics, Cornell University. And here are comments on Benson's earlier two-volume dictionary from which the Standard was abridged: "It is a pleasure to express the judgment that this work is a model of lexicographic excellence." --Library Journal Hardcover, 800 pages. $59.95
