Time and Tide Tsui Hark Action master Tsui Hark presents one of the most fast and furious efforts of his career - and that's saying something. Nicholas Tse and Wu Bai star in the story of a bodyguard and a soldier of fortune who, despite their friendship, end up on opposite sides of an assassination plot. The story gets very convoluted, but "...the plot in Time and Tide is no more than a platform for the astounding action sequences, which exhibit all the kinetic energy and big-screen imagination that Hark is famous for. They are spectacular and spectacularly long, going on and on as they continually up the ante and bulldoze the envelope" (John Petrakis, Chicago Tribune). In Cantonese and English with English subtitles. The DVD is letterboxed, closed-captioned. Includes optional English and French soundtracks and subtitles, director's commentary, theatrical trailers, and filmographies. Hong Kong, 2000, 113 mins. DVD $44.95
